My own projects
Krewni.pl is my own social networking experiment. The website is build on Zend Framework and introduces interesting usage of web technologies. For instance the family tree itself is made in SVG/VML – XML-based file format for describing vector graphics – technology similar to flash but having many benefits in some situations, and innovative way of describing and storing relationships help in solving not so trivial problems in other projects.
The website offers typical social networking features, like photo galleries (including tagging), private messages, events/calendar, groups, plus ability to visually create family tree. Typical, but presented in way that everyone can understand and use it, not only technology literate young people.
As said earlier, the website itself is social networking experiment, but is was well received by audience. It is interesting that some of so called “power users” already celebrated their 70th birthday and created family trees having more than hundred relatives.
Answering to most common question – yes, there is English language version, although user interface does not let changing current language. Let me know and I’ll show you how to switch language.
